Sen. Sanders is not alone among liberal Democrats that believe private insurance companies have to go in order to have universal coverage that is cost effective. Of course, without competition from private insurers, it would be easier for a Medicare-for-All program to ration care by refusing to cover treatments and procedures deemed not cost effective.
