Fascinating. Obama’s atacks on private insurance have made people trust the insurance companies even more than they did before — especially vis-a-vis the government.
If that poll is true, and I’d like to see the details published to show it isn’t a push poll designed to get a predetermined outcome. When the Kaiser Foundation asked which health care system participant do you trust to put your interests above their own, 78% said doctors, 68% said Medicare and 48% said private insurance. Of course, during the tea parties and the town hall meeting it was common to see people protesting to keep out any government involvement in their Medicare so I could see that poll as proof of the ignorance of large parts of the public.
The reality is that the people who review reimbursements at health insurance companies are paid bonuses based on how they minimize medical loss ratios. In other words, every treatment they deny means puts money it their pockets. So, if you say that you trust an insurance company, just remember that someone directly profits from denying you care
It is easy to understand why people might believe insurers have an incentive to deny treatments of marginal value if doing so was unlikely to harm members. But it’s encouraging that people also realize even a benevolent government cannot ensure all decisions are in peoples’ best interest.

If the poll is accurate, The Democrats are pursuing a losing strategy. They’re whole message is: government is better than insurance companies.
