Retirement effects mental skills? Hard to believe.

  2. Vicki says:

The squib about war is fascinating. What you are really saying is that only women really matter.

I know there are ice cream headaches. I’ve had them.

There must be something more to the study on wars and population. Otherwise, shouldn’t there be a lot more Native Americans in America? From what little I know, the American Indian Wars were not kind on the population of Native Americans.

It’s a little hard to believe that the population wouldn’t be much different had there been no wars. Famines often occur during wartime would reduce the fertility of women. What about the new world? Millions of men and women died in the wars of conquest from smallpox and other old world diseases.

The retirement article brings up an interesting premise. I have known two people who really loved their jobs. When it came time to retire, both of them died very shortly thereafter. This is all anecdotal, but I think perhaps it is because our jobs make up such a large percentage of our lives. Some people can’t cope without them. And, how many of use even a fraction of the brain-power when we are at home compared to when we are at work?

On the other hand, some of the nuttiest people I have ever known did not have to work for their money. They went crazy from boredom.
