Apps of the Future

Glance at your phone in the morning, for instance, and see an alert that you need to leave early for your next meeting because of traffic, even though you never told your phone you had a meeting, or where it was.

How does the phone know? Because an application has read your e-mail, scanned your calendar, tracked your location, parsed traffic patterns and figured out you need an extra half-hour to drive to the meeting. (NYT)

Hmmm, I don’t see any downfall to this type of development, expect some overly cautious sense of privacy concerns. However, if that is encrypted and relatively safe, I am all for these types of apps permeating through our devices to make our lives easier.

    • Sammy says:

Well, we’re advancing technologically without looking back, including e-mail, etc., so I’m all for the type of devices designed to make your life easier.

    • JD says:

As long as I am the one choosing what or who is reading my emails and can opt out, this is a great step.

  2. Sammy says:

I am excited about this prospective app. There is nothing more stressful or inconvenient than added traffic in rush hour on your way to work.

  3. Bosh says:

Sometimes I just think to myself…we have gotten too advanced.

  4. Blaine says:

That type of technology is superb, this is going to help everyone so much, unless it malfunctions, but I find that to be extremely unlikely.

    • JD says:

Just like everything else, it is pain when it breaks, but it makes our lives so much easier when it works.

I wonder if we’ll ever get to a point where humans cannot survive without technology. I doubt it, but you never know.

    • Blaine says:

I think we would die off now without technology, well at least snookie would.

      • Dewaine says:

Nice. You think so as a species? Let’s say that all the sudden we are back in the stone age. Obviously a lot of people would die, but humanity still has the survival skills to make it.
