Does anybody really find these results surprising?
This whole thing is based on an internet sample complete with procedures for removing data from “potential repeat responders.”
If you filled it out twice or more in an hour you were excluded. The authors say that it was generally representative of the population at large but are silent on how well it represented individual states or whether people were telling the truth about where they lived.
They also say that this sample is more representative than standard psychological studies because they rely on “convenience samples”(!).
Linda, you’ve destroyed my enjoyment of this result.
