Let’s start with repealilng Obama Care.
I like 1, 3 and 4.
Number 1 is definitely a good idea. However, number 2 and 3 both need some tinkering. Number 2 would work better as a payroll tax to fund individual accounts for Medicare; number 3 needs to be converted into a high-deductible program coupled with personal accounts (funded by number 2). If the above adjustment were made, number 4 would not be an issue.
1, 3 and 4 for me. A little more complex than just “cut” and “repeal”, but it is important.
Mortgage companies and credit cards always send you a balance statement, and show the minimum payment needed to pay the debt off over perhaps as much as 30 years. What if our government did this, every year at tax time right on the 1040 tax forms we all have to use?
What if they showed us our estimated personal part of the balance, and the the minimum payment needed by each person to (a) balance the budget and/or (b) pay off the debt in 30 years.
Friends, there is a petition at the “We The People” website to do just that. Regardless of your approach to fixing the debt, I encourage you to support that petition, if for nothing else to help more people realize how serious the problem is, and to help more people understand at a personal level what it might look like in familiar terms like a credit card or mortgage statement.
