It was a tremendous rally. Tens of thousands showed up to hear from a couple dozen Representatives, John Voight, John Ratzenberger, and others.

Unlike the Speaker’s rally last week, this event was open to the public. There were no invite lists, gates or fences to keep people out.

By the way, The Speaker’s office is right in the front of the Capitol. Her office windows are behind the big pillars, just below the dome. There is NO WAY she didn’t see this.

Here’s another video from the rally.

I can’t believe how many people were there!

  3. Bret says:

    Glad to see this.

  4. Guy Fawkes says:

The people have lost the confidence of their government … so a new people must be formed.

  5. Kevin McCarey says:

Yay! Tens of thousands of people that would rather throw a trillion dollars into war as opposed to saving American lives! What a great thing to celebrate!

  6. scott says:

the goverment needs to get their hands off heathcare? you teabaggers really prefer to have an insurance company rob you and provide you with next to nothing, drop you and leave you to die or go bankrupt, with no accountability? medical profiteers jacking rates 28% a year to better fund the campaigns of their republican political allies?
    well, it’s a free country, I guess you have a right…
a right to have a know nothing has been actor child of mccarthy as the voice of your movement, now, in 2009, 50 years after mccarthy and 20 years after cheers- (because you’re so in touch with the current state of affairs)
a right to remain completely ignorant so nobody can call you a liar (fabricator, though)

there couldn’t have been more than a few thousand people there;- say what you want, I was there. i hope pelosi saw you too, and the poster comparing universal healthcare to dachau. that’s what we’re going to do, set up gas chambers and crematoria for everyone…. idiots.

much love, a well armed socialist

  7. Charlie says:

This was a great event! It was put together quickly, it was a Thursday afternoon and thousands or tens of thousands showed up.

I was there, I believe 10,000-15,000……..but who cares, they took up the whole Capitol Lawn! They cared about the issue. They don’t want Government in their lives. They handed out flag pins! They said the pledge. These people love America.

On the other hand, I was also at the Pelosi event, well outside of the gates that kept me out. There were about 40 in attendance to that event. While I was standing there, interest group after interest group was allowed inside the gates. These groups were there for what they gain, or managed not to lose in the Pelosi bill. They could care less about the government intrusion into the doctor patient relationship. They could care less that many of the proposed reforms will increase the cost of care, decrease the quality, and reduce access.

Just comparing the two events at face value, it made me feel proud to be in the 11/5 crowd instead of a Pelosi-care supporter.

  8. Nancy says:

Kevin, have you ever considered this very radical idea: The government shouldn’t be spending trillions of dollars of our money on war or on health care. Ordinary folks are capable of handling most problems if government would let us keep our mnoney and leave us alone.

  9. Bart Ingles says:

Some unfortunate examples of liberal reasoning:
    (1) Anyone opposed to a particular health care bill is a warmonger;
    (2) Initiate a discussion by insinuating that your opponent engages in an unusual sexual practice.

    Nice.

  10. Joe S. says:

The more important rally was on Tuesday when voters voted the bums out. I’m afraid that this is the only way we are going to be able to stop this insanity.
