    I believe that friends probably are better than doctors for not-too-serious mental health problems.

    Nurses are probably better at TLC. For a lot of problems, that may be all that’s needed.

    I heard about the British study that found minimally trained nurses were better at treating depression that professionals. Maybe the point of the story is to buy a friend dinner in return for telling them your miseries. Maybe pairs of perfect strangers could trade off and help each other in return for a dinner.

    I hope the third item is wrong. Most people I know have deteriorated hearing ability as they get older, including me.

    None of this stuff is new, folks. The evidence for the first statement has been around for years.
