Too much nanny state for the New York Times? That’s saying something.
Banning smoking on the beach is definitely akin to prohibition considering it would be hard to consider second-hand smoke a hazard when it’s out in the open air.
Wht is Bloomberg’s problem? He seems to have this insatiable desire to regulate everyone’s life.
Banning smoking is easier than actually doing something like clearing snow.
On the contrary, perhaps Mayor Bloomberg should pass out free cigarettes as part of an overall strategy to save Social Security.
Of all of the infringements that libertarians should be in arms about, smoking bans one of the most common. But, I also have the hardest time arguing against them. It’s such a disgusting habit that I have a hard time getting past that and into the civil liberties aspect of it.
