Whose Side is Amazon On: the Kindle Owner or the Kindle Thief?

The thief, as it turns out. Say somebody steals your Kindle. Amazon could disable it, but it won’t — unless there is a police officer around with a subpoena. Sirius has the same policy toward satellite radios. Ditto for AT&T and iPhone.

    If the orginal owner buys another Kindle, then Amazon doubles its income every time one is stollen.

    Let’s encouage a lot of bad publicity. Maybe they will shape up and do the right thing.
