    Data usage is the new currency in business. I don’t understand why hospitals aren’t better at using the mountains of information they create every single day.

    Interesting. However playing the devil’s advocate, the more data available doesn’t mean managers make better decisions. Some random player out performs my best fantasy player every week, despite the data. Its quality not quantity of data.

    The reason our health care system doesn’t use more data is because it is often not in the stakeholders best interest to do so. Any system that requires investment and does not enhance revenue (or reduces revenue) is not a priority.

    That’s short sighted. I’ve talked to the organization, Advanced Plan for Health, that data mines and analyzes patient claims data and the predictive power of their model is amazing.
