It’s Easier Than You Think to Donate Your Bone Marrow

These days, about 75 percent of bone-marrow transplants don’t require actual bone marrow.  The donor’s blood is circulated through a machine that filters out marrow-making cells called peripheral blood stem cells (PBSC), then the remaining blood is returned to the donor.

But it does take seven hours.

    I agree with Bruce. A market for organs and a market for bone marrow and we wouldn’t be talking about shortages any more.

    How about outlawing seatbelts and airbags and mandating faulty brakes for automobiles? That will vastly increase the availability of organ donors!
