Surprising result: Female doctors are less adept than males at dealing with difficult patients. About one in six patients is "difficult."
Hotels reject defibrillators. Reasons: costs and trial lawyers.
Reminding patients to take a test is more effective than reminding physicians. A better use for EMRs?
It’s hard to make defibrillators cost effective. Basically, other people have to be around when the heart attack occurs. That’s not the case for a person alone in a hotel room. So the benefits for a hotel setting are relatively small. The case is stronger for an airplane, where there are lots of people around.
On dealing with difficult patients, the male doctors are probably more intimidating.
Nancy. If the patient is intimidated, that implies the patient is less difficult. Not a fair test.
