    Not surprised about drinking. If I couldn’t have a drink, I woudl be depressed.

    The article on drinking attributed elevated mood among drinkers as the socialization that drinking often entails. Moreover, alcohol is something of a “social lubricant” in social settings.

    Isn’t that kind of like saying that people that breathe live longer?

    Actually, this is one of the reasons that makes me want to handle my own health care dollars. One could easily imagine a government health system that outlaws some foods (like fried foods) because of health costs, so drinking doesn’t seem that for off.

    Of course, a lot of fried foods are not good for you and excessive alcohol isn’t good for you either, but in moderation……they might (and according to the study do) make you happier/less depressed. I would rather make that judgment myself.
