  1. Bubba says:

Patients with a serious mental illness receive worse medical care than “normal” people.

I’m not surprised. Crazy people are probably less compliant and more whiney than normal patients. It’s enough to make doctors want to usher them out of the office with a script for happy pills without asking about other conditions.

    • Craig says:

I don’t know if that statement is true. “Happy Pills” are what most crazy people need because they have a serotonin imbalance etc depending on the mental disorder…so they are getting what they need, because those pills boost that.

  2. Studebaker says:

We may be hard-wired to be racists.
We’re not hard-wired to be racists. Rather, we evolved to primarily trust our kinsmen and extended family first; and our close associates second.

Throughout most of human history, violent deaths were common. Outsiders were always distrusted because they: 1) strained our scarce resources if they needed our help; 2) they often tried to kill us, steal our women, and dispossess us of our homes and farms.

Rather than being racists, humans evolved to look for clues to similarities that may indicate the other person is not a threat. Skin color is the most noticeable difference. However, other attributes can also either signify common traits or different values.

    • Dewaine says:

      Exactly, it is learned behavior.

    • Bart says:

The article uses the term “racial prejudice” rather than “racism”. I don’t believe humans are hard-wired for any particular ism. But I see prejudice as a natural consequence of having a meat-based neural network brain, rather than some form of Turing machine. We all have unconscious biases derived from past experience.

  3. Buster says:

More than half of Web traffic is from robots… Dating sites provide especially fertile ground for socialbots.

So THAT explains why the last three girlfriends I met online were stiff, with little attributes of human personality!

  4. Calvin says:

“So how does race enter into this picture? Numerous studies have found that if you put someone in a brain scanner and show him brief flashes (one-20th of a second) of emotionally neutral faces, the amygdala activates if the face is someone of a different race.”

I feel that is peoples natural inability to embrace change. IF people grow up in a house of only white people they subconsciously associate that skin color as normal, so change in color can effect them.

  5. Greg says:

“She’s charged, under Pennsylvania law, with aiding a suicide, a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison.”

Is this a just punishment? should assisted suicide be illegal or not?

  6. Blaine says:

“These automated charlatans are programmed to tweet and re-tweet. They have quirks, life histories and the gift of gab.”

I wonder if people are using this fool add companies into thinking that there was traffic on a site.
