  1. Patel says:

    @ State allowing sales agents

I don’t if this such a bad idea, I am always skeptical of sales agent. Also, it is up to the state, I feel that for the most part, the state will allow agents to help people get into Medicaid.

  2. Desai says:

@ 3 page application open for fraud

That seems like less than what it takes for applying for food stamp.

  3. Hassan says:

    Drone Kill vs Cuban Prisons

I think this is mainly because killing suspects is less messy than actually bring them into cuban prisons.

  4. Huda says:

    Drone Kills vs. Cuban Prisons

Lets not forget, most of the drone kills are targeting group gatherings, in many cases, it is a lot easier to kill them as oppose trying to capture them because they require more military human capital.

  5. Sam says:

“Lawyer who drafted White House drone policy: The U.S. would rather kill suspects than send them to Cuban detention center.”

I think are controversial methods. Suspects that don’t deserve a trial is a very controversial topic. Many of them don’t confess to committing the crime.

  6. Keshal says:

    Drone Kills Vs. Cuban Prisons

This could only mean that cuban prisons are running out of space.

  7. Smitty says:

“Lawyer who drafted White House drone policy: The U.S. would rather kill suspects than send them to Cuban detention center.”

    – Saves money…

  8. Roy says:

“Unless a state government specifically allows it, brokers and agents cannot help people get insurance in the health insurance exchange.”

More concerning emergencies from the new law.

  9. Huda says:

    Drone Kills Vs. Cuban Prisons

Let get real here, Cuban prisons are reserved for the elite vip terrorists!

  10. Huda says:

Obama Care and the 3 page application

I guess they are going to need alot of health data mining analyst to carry this through.

  11. H. James Prince says:

“An estimated 4,700 people have now been killed by some 300 US drone attacks in four countries, and the question of the programme’s status under international and domestic law remains highly controversial.”

This is the legacy of the U.S. in the first few decades of the 21st century. We can only remain high above all others in our lofty ivory tower for so long. Eventually, these people will have had enough of our pontificating about “Truth, Justice, and the American Way” and tear our tower to the ground.

  12. Buster says:

Unless a state government specifically allows it, brokers and agents cannot help people get insurance in the health insurance exchange. (The federal government is going to spend millions of dollars on untrained “navigators” instead.)

I imagine it’s not that a broker cannot help people get insurance; it’s that the broker cannot get paid for doing so.

  13. Benedict Popplewell says:

    Drone Policy

Not really surprising is it? Using a drone to kill someone is just so easy, it’s like playing a video game. Obviously a lot of people are worth more dead than alive. Accurate insight about the definition of enemy combatant as well. It’s so vague, we’ve opened the door for all of these drone attacks.

  14. Jardinero1 says:

“Agents and brokers must work with all individuals and families who approach them for help, including those who are eligible for Medicaid or CHIP.” As the ACA is implemented, I foresee many, many more Medicaid and CHIP applicants. I doubt seriously that there will be many agents, in Texas willing to sell individual policies especially if they are required, by law, to help every medicaid and Chip prospect who knocks on the door. Commission rates on such are nil and there are plenty of other products out there which pay vastly more than nil.

I sell insurance as a general lines agent in Texas. I stopped selling health insurance in November of 2011 as premiums in the individual category started escalating out of control, with the implementation of first of the ACA mandates. I am not unique. I still get about one call a month from individuals asking for health coverage. They always say that I am the umpteenth agent they called who is not selling health anymore.

Insurance salesman are motivated by a sales commission and to see their customers happy. We are pretty simple that way. Fact: The ACA will not pay commissions commensurate to the effort required and will leave only unhappy customers. Consequence: No agent will play.

  15. Linda Gorman says:

The ObamaCare statute specifically says that “a navigator shall not (i) be a health insurance issuer; or (ii) receive any consideration directly or indirectly from any health insurance issuer in connection with the enrollment of any qualified individuals or employees of a qualified employer in a qualified health plan.”

I interpret this to mean that a navigator cannot be a broker as the term is usually understood unless brokers can make a living collecting all of the sales income from consumers. All states can do is require that navigators take the test to be a broker.
