Bad News for ObamaCare, and Other News

Bad news for ObamaCare. Pay-for-performance is Massachusetts isn’t working.

More bad news: making preventive care free leads to more utilization. State mandates increased  mammograms by 800,000 over 14 years.

What health care rationing will really be like. Very funny video.

Prime Minister: National Health Service is “second rate.” Apparent gaffe.

Very funny explanation of medical loss ratios. (video)

Two more videos on ObamaCare and concierge medicine: Here and here. (HT to Ralph Webber)

  1. I think we are going to have a huge rationing problem. Free preventive care will be part of the cause. Also ther will be 32 million newly insured. All told, suplly will greatly exceed demand.

  2. Pay for performance is a worthy goal. But the lack of market forces means the performance being measured (and paid for) is not always what enhanced value or boosts efficiency. Often times, it’s an arbitrary metric dreamt up as a way to encourage a worth, but- hard-to- measure, outcome.

  3. Steve, incentives matter, but to-down management of the practice of medicine by far-away bureaucrats doesn’t work.

  4. Hi. Just found your website. I want to sign up for your etwslnteer but I am confused as to what color Las Vegas Nevada would be. We are getting warm weather now. I have transplanted a lot of things outside. Please let me know what color you would suggest. Mitzi
