The most telling story of all is the comparison of New Hampshire and Vermont. New Hampshire is near the bottom on taxes and Vermont is near the top. However, New Hampshire’s public services are just as good or better than Vermont’s.
It would be great if we could get Americans to vote with their feet.
Wasn’t it New Hampshire where all of the libertarians are supposed to move in the next 5 years so that the party can get a representative in Congress? I think I read that in Reason Magazine.
As a transplanted Texan, I’m ashamed that we allowed seven other states to beat us out of top ranking for lowest-tax state.
These colors are the opposite of the typical political map, but the pattern seems to hold: Politically red states have low taxes and vice versa.
