To See, or Not to See
Supplying glasses for the world’s poor may be one of the most valuable investments around. Hundreds of millions of people — some put the estimates as high as two billion — do not have the corrective lenses that would allow them to lead better, more productive lives.
A study published in [the Bulletin of the World Health Organization] in June estimated the cost in lost output at $269 billion a year. Moreover, tackling vision problems early can help prevent later blindness.

Sorry you posted this. We shouldn’t give the Obama Administration any ideas on what new things to add to the mandated health linsurance benefits package.
Vision care is a must, Tom. Right behind acupuncture and naturopathy. All at someone else’s expense of course.
We do want everyone to see eye to eye don’t we?
Aye, aye, Bruce.
I’d say the eyes have it.
Reply to Bruce, Larry and Stephen: While you apt pupils may have vision, your outlook is truly short-sighted. This is a serious problem. 40 lashes to each.
No need to fear giving the Obama administration ideas. Page 103 of the Senate Bill requires that employers cover “oral and vision care” for children.
Eyeglasses are relatively inexpensive – and have been getting less and less costly over the generations, because government kept its hands off our health care until the middle of the 20th century. I wrote a short but scholarly article (http://tinyurl.com/y8jly6e, pp. 17-18) about this, examining the price history of prescription eyeglasses and contact lenses over the decades.
My grandfather had to drop out of school, circa 1915, because his family could not afford eyeglasses. Such a thing would be unimaginable today.
John,
I’ll lens you my opinion — perhaps you should be a pupil to AtillaThePun, who seems to have extraordinary vision but I don’t want to be too corny-a about it so let’s just put a lid on it and I’ll brow out gracefully.
Don, your punning ability is out of sight. Eye can’t compete with you.
Currently traveling between Miami and Florida, reading this on my Iphone. Will read it in full when I get back, and I will also post a backlink on my website. Thanks.
Hello. This is kind of an “unconventional” question , but have other visitors asked you how get the menu bar to look like you’ve got it? I also have a blog and am really looking to alter around the theme, however am scared to death to mess with it for fear of the search engines punishing me. I am very new to all of this …so i am just not positive exactly how to try to to it all yet. I’ll just keep working on it one day at a time Thanks for any help you can offer here
