Opioid prescriptions are up one-third yet the sales are more than double. That suggests the increase in prescriptions are for addicts or aging Baby Bookers on long term pain management (or both).
The reason this is troubling is because it helps pharmaceuticals profit quite nicely while it grows a dependency on painkillers to the average patient. Painkillers are being prescribed unnecessarily now.
It is just too easy to get these things over the counter and abuse them. Many never get of them and some would say that they are worse than some of the hardest illegal drugs out there.
Those exponential increases are quite alarming, IMO.
Sales of opioids up 110%…I agree, quite staggering numbers.

True. Our society is becoming such an addictive one that it makes it so easy for others to profit and perpetuate unhealthy and dangerous behavior.
Sad illustration of where our society and culture is heading in terms of addiction and health.
Oh, and at the core, greed. Of course.
