Super Bowl May Be Hazardous to Your Health, and Other News
The Super Bowl may be a health risk. Being a fan of the losing team is bad for your heart.
Marriage doesn’t make people happier. Happy people are more likely to get married.
Do attractive women really make men stupider? Yes.
Scientists are working on a vaccine against cocaine.
Is there such a thing as a fecal transplant? Yes.
Is it dangerous to take expired prescription medications? Typically no.
Glad about the last finding. I take expired medicines all the time.
I think it’s probably true that happier people get married. But since marriage probably makes them happier, how do you sort all that out?
I would guess that losing in general is not good for the heart.
It doesn’t surprise me that happier people are more likely to get married. People who are anti-social would have a harder time with relationships — and be less likely to get married.
Devon: Here is what you neglected to tell us about the “cocaine vaccine”:
Unfortunately, some subjects began snorting massive amounts of the drug in an effort to overcome the vaccine’s effects. Some people managed to amass 10 times more of the drug in their systems than was present before the trial began. Cocaine levels like that can kill people. In addition, the cocaine antibodies, when they developed at all, remained in the bloodstream of subjects for only eight to 10 weeks — it takes longer than that to assure the behavioral aspects of the addiction are overcome.
On the expired drugs – Why would you risk it? I can see going a bit past the expiratin date but years?? At best, the drug could be ineffective. At worst, it could have morphed over time to something else that would not sit well in your stomach. Yech.
