More Waivers
Late Friday afternoon, the Administration again released an updated list of waiver requests granted. The number currently stands at 1,471. In all, more than 3.25 million Americans have received exemptions from some — but certainly not all — of the law’s onerous mandates.
Of the nearly 40,000 individuals who received waivers in the latest update, almost 35,000 of them [nearly nine in ten] are members of union plans.
The fact that 3.25 million people need a waiver to avoid losing their health insurance suggests the law was poorly thought out.
If you want to judge the effectiveness of new policy, you could hardly do worse than to look at the list of folks asking for (and receiving) a waiver.
The last line of Chris’ post gets to the point I always wonder about — if Democrats were so eager to pass the law through, why do they want to exempt themselves?
Not a bit surprising.
