Debt-Related Stress on the Rise, Children in Medicaid Receive Fewer Screenings, and Alzheimer’s Prevention
46 percent of Americans are suffering from debt-related stress. 53 percent say they feel little or no stress at all.
More than three of every four children on Medicaid in nine states did not receive one or more of the recommended medical, vision or hearing screenings in 2007, according to a study by the HHS inspector general.
Interesting result on Alzheimer’s afer a slew of articles (almost every day?) telling us how we can stave it off.
On Medicaid, is this the same Medicaid program that Obama wants to force 15 million more people into???
Interesting article on stress from being in debt. It states per capita debt is $44,000 — which includes mortgages, car loans and credit cards.
By contrast, in 1982 per capita debt was a mere $14,000 (adjusted for inflation). This suggests that a family of four (in 1982) only had debt equal to $56,000 compared to $176,000 today. No wonder some people are stressed.
Bruce, it’s the very same Medicaid program.
I received a letter about getting a certain $ amount from medicare in June and continuing on other occasions. What am I supposed to do with it. Buy a new pair of shoes? How many people will do just that. It seems to me that it should be remitted only when there is a doctors visit, or a certain medical procedure is performed. It says they want control, no the insurance companies. is this control?
