Did CGI Know All Along The Website Wouldn’t Be Ready?
On a sultry day in late August, a dozen staff members of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services gathered at the agency’s Baltimore headquarters with managers from the major contractors building HealthCare.gov to review numerous problems with President’s Obama’s online health insurance initiative. The mood was grim.
The prime contractor, CGI Federal, had long before concluded that the administration was blindly enamored of an unrealistic goal: creating a cutting-edge website that would use the latest technologies to dazzle consumers with its many features. Knowing how long it would take to complete and test the software, the company’s officials and other vendors believed that it was impossible to open a fully functioning exchange on Oct. 1. (NYT)
Wait, you’re telling me that the governments unrealistic expectations pushed things too fast and hurt people? Sounds about right.

While website is certainly operating poorly, Obamacare has much bigger problems that will come to light soon enough.
It would’ve been nice for Obama to tell us this before hand.
Actually, I don’t understand why they didn’t come clean, it seems like it would be better for them.
Maybe they know that making the problems look like glitches will distract people from the real problem of perverse incentives. Obamacare isn’t losing a lot of support over this, people just think it is being done poorly.

Exactly. Without lies, this thing would never work. They need people to act against their own interest.
The only thing that can be hoped for is that the American public sees how really incometent and duplicitous the government is, and votes accordingly.
