Ironically, Sen Baucus wants to allow near-retirees to join Medicare. Of what value is Medicare, if the doctors won’t see you.
I’m not surprised to see that the Mass Health Plan is more expensive than expected. There is absolutely nothing in the plan that encourages anyone to control costs.

If Massachusetts requires pure community rating, then the plan was doomed from the start. Young adults have their own challenges, such as establishing careers and families; forcing them to carry yet another subsidy for older people is even more offensive than the existence of an individual mandate.
