Obama’s Spending Freeze, Virginia Makes It Illegal to Require Insurance, and Lancet’s Vaccine Retraction

  1. That second item is interesting. Virginia makes it against the law to impose a health insurance mandate on Virginians. So let’s say Congress and Obama impose the mandate anyway. Shouldn’t the representatives and senators who voted to impose the mandate, and even Obama himself, be subject to some kind of sanction for violating the law? If not prison time, how about a fine?

  2. Even if purely advisory, the Virginia law pares away an unnecessary part of the Washington proposals. The individual mandate was just a way of disguising a tax.

It would be one thing for Congress to determine that it’s in the public interest for me to give the Girl Scouts $100. But please don’t do so by forcing me to by $500 worth of cookies. I can select my own groceries, thank you.
