Tyler Cowen is from New Joysey (according to Wikipedia).

Barbeque is a Texas/southern thing. Therefore, I’m not sure I would trust his opinion on barbeque.

  2. Devon Herrick says:

A solar system with 18 days and 460 days in a year sounds rather interesting. Under such a solar system people would try to get 6 hours of sleep and work for 6 hours a day. Growing cycles would be longer; but the hours of sunlight per day would be shorter. The implications are staggering. I wonder if the same strains of plants would still thrive? Presumably, crops would grow more slowly.

Absolutely marvelous story about Tyler Cowen’s dining finds. I’m ready to leave for Lockhart for Barbeque!

  4. Brian Williams. says:

Devon: Years with 460 days would help solve the Social Security solvency problem. More people would die before turning 65 (i.e., it would take longer to go around the sun 65 times).

However, if the days were only 18 hours long, people would actually turn 65 faster! Oops!

How would the average mammal fair on an 18 hour day?
