Doctors respond to task force recommendation for fewer PSA tests here, here and here.  Austin Frakt summarizes them.

A $5 billion fund created as part of the health care overhaul to pay for health insurance for early retirees will run out of money by September 2012.

Almost half of the payments are for state and local governments, according to a report the Government Accountability Office released Monday. Unions also controlled a large share of the funds.

Did McKinsey repudiate its survey predicting many employers would abandon their health plans? Megan McArdle: no.

    Doctors disagree about screening tests? That should not be cause for alarm. It should reinforce the idea that patients should decide for themselves.

    The McKinsey report was merely stating the obvious as relayed to them by the clients McKinsey surveyed. Why pay for a costly fringe benefit for your workers if it is available from the government at a greatly reduced price?
