U.S. Internment Camps 78 Years Ago

It wasn’t just Japanese who were interred — without trial or a hearing or due process of law. There were also thousands of Italians and Germans — with the number and locations still not completely known. One camp was outside Crystal City, Texas. An inscription on a historical marker at the site now calls it “A reminder that the injustices and humiliations suffered here as a result of hysteria, racism and discrimination never happen again.”

  1. Ditto. This is the worst side of American history. And we’re doing it again with supposed “terrorists.”

  2. Out of those Japanese internment camps came many of the men of the legendary 442nd Infantry Regiment, the most highly decorated regiment in U.S. history.

  3. Privatization leads to nationalism which leads to xenophobic behavior which leads to discrimination which leads to internment camps.

Now they call them private prisons or immigration detention centers.

  4. My guess, Erik, is that you wouldn’t want to talk about that comment becuase you’d end up contradicting yourself in all sorts of ways.

    Again.

  5. Tom,
I knew I could get you to look foolish. Let me explain. I promise to go slow.

You see, I had to know the information before I could retrieve it. I mealy posted a link so you would have to admit my concept was correct (you know a secondary source and all).

Now be a big boy and repeat after me:

You were correct Erik, I apologize.

Come on I know you can do it. Or you just lose your credibility. You have yet to prove anything I have posted as incorrect.

I doubt you can respond coherently, I expect more babble.

  6. To have “secondary,” you must have “primary,” but you never say anything, though it’s taking you quite a few words to do so.

  7. Tom,
    See “December 14, 2010 at 12:38 pm”

I know, it’s hard to be a man and admit your wrong. The republicans controlling your life can’t admit that tax breaks do not actually create jobs. But they still cry for them.

    I understand.

  8. Erik,

    1. Spelling.
    2. Your first post has no meaning; that’s what I’m trying to say. Just because you can type the letters “n-a-t-i-o-n-a-l-i-s-m” or “h-i-s-t-o-r-y” next to other words doesn’t mean anything.

If you want proof, try to define the terms in your first post, then show that the causal relations are necessary. You don’t have to post a reply to do this; just write them out on scratch paper and see what you come up with. If you can’t do this, your words are the equivalent of gibberish so you really shouldn’t speak so much.
