    I remember 20 years ago when articles first began to appear suggesting moderate wine-drinking was associated with positive health effects. The medical community was in a quandary debating whether something as destructive as alcohol should be praised in any form for fear alcoholics might use it as an excuse to continue their destructive behavior.

    It could be that the wine drinkers consume less Aquavit.

    I don’t know if a glass of wine improves my mental acuity, but I do know that in sufficent quantities wine reduces it.
