Income, Citizenship, or Immigration Data for Over One Quarter of ObamaCare Enrollees Don’t Match
We previously discussed that one in eight ObamaCare enrollees are receiving improper subsidies. When discrepancies with respect to citizenship or immigration are included, the proportion goes up to one in four.
The May 8 document provided to the AP said that 2.1 million people enrolled through the new health insurance exchanges were “affected by one or more inconsistency” as of the end of April.
The number of people affected could well be higher. According to the administration, the 2 million figure reflects only consumers who signed up through the federally administered HealthCare.gov website and call centers. The government signed up about 5.4 million people, while state-run websites signed up an additional 2.6 million.
Updated numbers provided by Bataille indicate that the total number of people affected remains about the same as reflected in the document. About 1.2 million have discrepancies related to income; 505,000 have issues with immigration data and 461,000 have conflicts related to citizenship information. (AP)
We’ve discussed in the past that statistically every single subsidy will be inaccurate due to the way the subsidies are calculated. You have to self-report adjusted gross income based a variety of factors. The question is how will the claw back or credit work.
The way the subsidies were issued was flawed from the start.
The administration should have put more focus on insurance agents getting involved. They would not have these discrepancies.
Thank you but I doubt that. I think it more likely that less scrupulous agents would encourage applicants to shade the truth, and lead to over payment of subsidies. (Of course, this is a problem with navigators, too.)
Remember when the individual market was underwritten? Agents would fill out applications and shade the information about health status. For example, if an applicant was overweight in fact, but the driving license had a lower weight, the weight on the driving license would be entered on the application (in some cases).

So 25% of the people were affected in the first full month of ObamaCare. I am surprised even with all of the inconsistencies and pitfalls, there are still supporters of ObamaCare.
Under different implications, I doubt there would be any supporters.
This is what happens when a giant reform is rushed based on politics and not based on good policy.

So now if the government gave you more of a subsidy and the issue wasn’t resolved, they will deem you ineligible? That’s a good way to lessen the amount of enrollees.
The government never fails to shoot themselves in the foot with ObamaCare.
Well the American people voted for a change.
I doubt they anticipated health reform ending up being more expensive for less coverage. And the subsidies that make it more cost efficient are being abused by giving out improper subsidies.
But I was assured by President Obama that Obamacare wouldn’t be provided to illegal immigrants but according to these numbers about 1 million people with “citizenship” or “immigration” issues attempted to sign up? How many others weren’t picked up in their review? Obamacare will turn out to be a colossal failure of epic proportions with majority of the rolls filled by the sick, poor and illegal signing up first. God bless America because we’re gonna need it!
That’s right Joe, everything the government attempts to run becomes grossly less efficient, mainly because they are dealing with other people’s money.
There is only incentives for the government to over-subsidize people as they get to inflate their enrollment numbers in an attempt to provide faux support for this terrible law. Providing over-subsidies to illegals is especially attractive to this administration as well for obvious political purposes.
