  1. Amanda M. says:

I can see job promotions affecting a person psychologically when it comes to being moved halfway across the country, or world, and dealing with that stress as well as having to bear the stress and frustrations of other members of the family if uprooted from a city they loved. And then having to deal with the expectations newly thrust him/her.

I would be curious to see if the percentage of the family food budget that is spent at restaurants has gone down since the recession hit.

  3. Devon Herrick says:

Job promotions undoubtedly increase stress, which isn’t good for you.

I’m somewhat surprised that half of families’ food budget is food away from home. I thought it would have been closer to one-quarter.

Promotions: I can see how getting promoted would be stressful. It recently dawned on me that responsibility is not all it is cracked up to be. Although the folks at the top get paid more, they often have more at risk.

Food budget: It is really difficult to break the habit of eating out, even during a recession. My husband and I have been trying to eat at home more often. But, sometimes we just get tired of doing the dishes and need an escape!
