Reinhart and Rogoff respond to Paul Krugman’s “spectacularly uncivil behavior.”
Krugman’s basic honesty challenged by David Warsh (HT: Greg Mankiw) and Jim Hamilton. “This one surely cinches the case that he should never win a Pulitzer Prize.”
I don’t think that health insurance should pay for weight loss surgery. If they want to start offering gym memberships, I’m ok with that.
Krugman being uncivil? I don’t believe it!
Obamacare kills small businesses. It’s really a huge problem that doesn’t get enough media attention. Does anyone think that unemployment will get better with these kind of policies in place?
Interesting thoughts on culture interacting with obesity.

Many factors play into the obesity debate in this country. Culture playing a big factor, but not as big as what drives that cultural paradigm, which is a pervasive dependency on fast and processed foods. There are some advancements on this front but not nearly big enough to cure the obesity problem we have.
Therese Hanna, Executive Director of the Center for Mississippi Health Policy:
“If you try to include everything, the cost would be so high that people wouldn’t be able to afford the coverage, so you defeat the purpose.”
And yet there is a long list of things mandated in insurance policies under the ACA
Oh, and regarding the question, we won’t be solving the problem by simply making weight loss surgery more accessible.

Yay regulation.
Small businesses seeking to ward off key health-law provisions — at least for a while — are planning to start their health plan contracts in December, rather than January.
Interesting to see how business are finding ways to avert direct hits they would otherwise receive from ACA provisions.
