ObamaCare Plan Refuses to Cover Cancer Patient Treatment
[S]he bought [a] plan and was approved on Nov. 22. Because by January the plan was still not showing up on her online Humana account, however, she repeatedly called to confirm that it was active. The agents told her not to worry, she was definitely covered.
Then on Feb. 12, just before going into (yet another) surgery, she was informed by Humana that it would not, in fact, cover her Sandostatin, or other cancer-related medications. The cost of the Sandostatin alone, since Jan. 1, was $14,000, and the company was refusing to pay. (WSJ)
Doesn’t surprise me. I had Humana dental insurance and it denied claims that were clearly covered. In one case, Humana said they had not received X-rays proving the work needed done. I complained to my dentists’ business office manager, who proceeded to pull my file and showed me the later (with post mark) where Humana had reviewed my x-rays and sent them back! I think it was the same time they claimed they would only pay for “one” procedure per visit. I had only had one procedure (oral surgery), but they never paid the bill. I was out $1,100 all told on their shenanigans.
That is insane Buster, what kind of monsters are they??
I for one have always hated the dentists.
Some would say the pain is worth it.
Vanity is expensive
“And then, because our lawmakers and president thought they could do better, she had nothing. Her old plan, now considered illegal under the new health law, had been canceled.”
This is frightening
Health insurance is illegal, what kind of benefits can we look to then?
It’s a destructive rewiring of our current system
What would be constructive though?
It’s the traditional problem of political vs economic decisions
“The “Affordable” Care Act is a brutal, Procrustean disaster. In principle, it violates the irreducible particularity of human life, and in practice it will cause many individuals to suffer and die. We can do better, and we must.”
Well said words.
It should be a rally statement for the right
“The cost of the Sandostatin alone, since Jan. 1, was $14,000, and the company was refusing to pay.”
So much for the “Affordable” part of the ACA
It’s going to end up costing us our country.
The midterm elections will be a scary outcome. I feel as if the shift might be too far right or left
The ACA does have a documented legal procedure to challenge an insurer when they refuse to pay for a treatment.
This procedure is not widely known, and it will still require months of legal agony for the insured and her family.
But at least there is a remedy for some cases.
You can claim what ever you want about ACA But before you believe what someone claims a intelligent person would ask for proof PRINT the Letter from her doctors who refused her care the insurance company that denied her treatment Show me the letter from the patient Care Advocate from the Hospital dening her care at the Hospital Show me Proof she Paid her Premiums and a letter Stating she is not covered for a Pre existing Condition ACA covers all those things ACA is a LAW to protect patients If the Insurance Company Refuses to Pay under all those Conditions its an ILLEGAL act by the Insurance COMPANY a Legal ISSUE The Insurance Company could have denied payment Before ACA but we would not have Been able to Procesute them before because it was Legal Please learn to get all the Facts and information before you decide to Spin HYPE I can go to the ER for a Broken Leg and I can not be refused treatment under laws before ACA with or without insurance Now if the insurance company said drug A is an acceptable treatment as is Drug B and we will pay for drug B that’s a different story So Please get all the facts first and proof of the situation before spinning your story It makes you all look stupid and gulliable
