Will ObamaCare be ready on time? Insider: “There’s a lot of work left until we flip the switch ― and the product we launch won’t be what was initially envisioned.”
Are smarter women also more attractive?
How a 44 cent bag of salt water gets billed at $546.
Myths about chronic illness. (Highly recommended.)
Are smarter women also more attractive?
-I find women who are smart more attractive…
I think you could make a case that more intelligent woman are better manipulators of the male psyche than unintelligent women.
That would certainly make sense.
“There’s a lot of work left until we flip the switch ― and the product we launch won’t be what was initially envisioned.”
This shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone, because reforms of this magnitude need to be changed and fine tuned to fit each of the individual demographics of the different regions of the U.S., so it’s inevitable that it will turn out quite a bit different than initially planned.
“In my possibly biased observation, the female students at such schools are not only smarter than average, they are better looking as well.”
-This is possibly the single greatest sentence ever written.
That is because there is a strong societal trend where wealthy intelligent women are smarter and go to ivy league schools.
OCare will be ready on time. It’s all about recording the names of people who will get insurance through the exchanges, sending the subsidies to “insurers” and declaring victory. This can be done with clay tablets if one has enough government workers.
If there is one thing the government knows how to do it is enroll beneficiaries, eligible or not, send money to them, and then say that a program cannot be canceled because too many people depend on it.
“Is urbanization producing a smarter mouse?” what!?…darn you evolution.
Shocking, that is, in how misleading or even false they are. Take the statement that “chronic diseases cause 7 in 10 deaths,” for example. We have to die of something. Would it be better to die of accidents? Suicides and homicides? Mercury poisoning? Infectious diseases? As compared to the alternatives, it is much easier to make the argument that the first statistic is a good thing rather than a bad thing.
Dang.
I would add that our over reliance on insurance (see next post) contributes to over medicalization of so-called “chronic illness”. That is, “prevention” and “wellness” programs (as described in the article) ensure that the insurer (or employer) attract the healthy patients who do not believe they will fall sick in the near future.
Are smarter women also more attractive?
Probably so. Intelligence and beauty both have a genetic basis. Some experts posit that good genes express themselves with facial and body symmetry. By contrast, asymmetric facial features are inversely correlated with independent ratings for beauty and physical attractiveness. Women who are rated as attractive have a formulaic spacing of eyes, nose and mouth. These traits also correlate with health and intelligence.
Prof. Friedman suggests smart chicks’ superior intellect could help them better understand the various techniques to make themselves more attractive, whether that be diet, makeup or some other beautification project.
I cannot say I share Prof. Friedman’s observations. Although I’ve seen numerous highly-intelligent, beautiful women on college campuses, a few years ago I stayed in Cambridge and had to walk across MIT’s campus to get a bite to eat. Not to be unkind, but it appeared like most of the young women I met spent far more time studying that applying makeup or shopping for the latest fashions.
