Think of it as a RINO/MINO meld. (Republican-in-name-only mates with moderate-in-name-only and produces ugly offspring.) There is no federal "public plan." There will be state public plans. There is no (Daschle-type) national health board. There will be a "quality oversight" board. HSAs are allowed. As far as I can tell, no one will be prohibited from leaving the country to get health care.
All this is brought to you by former senators Daschle, Mitchell, Dole and Baker – who even now think their opinions are so insightful they should be codified.

The question is: why did they bother? Is there anything in this plan that would truly solve the problems of cost, quality and access? NO.
The only systems in the World that actually work are a variation of Single Payer system. That is the only system on has complete choice of doctors (no “networks”)
There is only an oversight board to reign in “outliers” who have generally bad results, but the doctor and not a bureaucrat decides what treatment is appropriate (instead of a dozen different bureaucrats each with different rules)
The savings of a plague of Bureaucrats being dispensed with more than pays for any increase in actual Health Care. In Germany they do not even itemize as the cost of doing so exceeds the savings.
Insurance imposed by fiat from the employer was never “Choice” in the first place.
FreeDem is right. Employer-based health insurance was never a “Choice” in the first place.
Let’s level the playing field and give all American’s the same tax dodge buying insurance as those with employer-based health insurance.
FreeDom is confused if he thinks these single-payor countries include world wide coverage. We have world wide HSA coverage but you’re out-of-luck in Tampa with Medicare from Canada.

There are indeed many Canadians who can see any doctor in Florida if there is need. I know some personally that keep their Canadian Citizenship for that reason alone, even though they have to pay extra taxes they could avoid by becoming American Citizens.
The Infamous Medicare drug plan is a classic case of useless “Choice” You have to pick an insurance company, you have to stay a year, and the scams and dodges the different plans provide are all useless and a plague of Bureaucrats no matter what the choice is. Again running costs up till they hit the “donut hole” and then all those without the finances just solve their problem by needlessly dropping dead.
I will be voting Republican as soon as they give a danm about any one but themselves, show some signs that they can be Socialized like a Socialized Child instead of Feral Like a Gang Of Pirates, actually believe in accountability of those making decisions for others. However I believe that Global warming will be solved by he ll freezing over first
