The news that Obamacare will drive 2.5 million Americans out of workforce has been widely known. It is self-evidence that the post-capitalist method is not a right way to solve the problems.
No it is not, they have been spewing lots of encouragement regarding job growth, yet the policies that they pass encourage people to stay out of the workforce. Now they are just rolling with whatever new data appears.
The CBO originally estimated that 800,000 people would drop out of the labor market because they could get affordable health coverage without having to get it though a job. Many (if not most) of these are early retirees — that is, people who would like to retire before they are eligible for Medicare. Now that estimate has been increased by about three times.
Over at Slate.com, Matthew Yglesias think media reports on the CBO’s new estimate are disengenious. He opines… “Imagine Bill Gates decided to… give $1 million to every man, woman, and child… That wouldn’t be a particularly savvy use of his charitable dollars, but he could afford it if he wanted… What would happen next? Well, after a bunch of crazy celebrations… quite a lot of people would quit their jobs.”
The key phrase is “That wouldn’t be a particularly savvy use of [Bill gates’] charitable dollars…”
Indeed, policies that discourage work at taxpayers’ expense are not a very saavy use of taxpayers’ dollars either.
“Less than 10 percent of doctor practices are ready for the transition to ICD-10 coding; the deadline to switch to is Oct. 1.”
I don’t think anyone is ready for it and it’s going to be an unmitigated disaster.

“While the number is up from 4.7 percent who indicated readiness last summer…”
Well that is progress, maybe by the time ICD-10 is implemented that number will be up to 20%.
