    1. Do we really think that government loans aren’t like bank loans? Yeah if you don’t pay it back your penalized.

  2. On UPS dropping coverage

“the move is part of a long-term trend of shrinking corporate medical benefits”

  3. “the Fortune 100 firm expects the move, which applies to non-union U.S. workers only, to save about $60 million a year, said company spokesman Andy McGowan.”

  4. The nation’s state medical boards allow thousands of physicians to keep practicing medicine after findings of serious misconduct that put patients at risk.

At the same time, thousands (if not tens of thousands) of foreign medical graduates that have practiced abroad would love to work in the U.S. But they are not allowed to unless they jump through more hoops than they have the energy to endure.

  5. Very few commentators on the UPS move have read the whole story.

Coverage was withdrawn only when a spouse had insurance available through other employment.

Spouses who were not employed outside the home did NOT have their insurance withdrawn.

Large corps have been thinking about doing this for years. The ACA might be the
“cover” for doing so now, but that is all.
