  1. Dewaine says:

“NSA broke privacy rules thousands of times per year.”

    Any chance of consequences?

  2. Buster says:

The average physician spends almost 11 percent of his or her career practicing in the shadow of an unresolved malpractice claim.

There was a recent story in the newspaper about a Texas jury slapping a corporation with a $20 million damage award and another $115 million penalty for a Texas franchisee’s grievance (which was probably only worth a couple million, if any).

This was not a medical case. But it’s easy to see how something like this hanging over your head could really effect your ability to perform your job and make you cynical. The threat of losing your life savings would make you view each patient as a potential adversary. That’s not the way to practice medicine.

  3. Dewaine says:

“Getting less for more: The average health insurance premium paid by Massachusetts residents increased by 9.7% between 2009 and 2011, while the value of the coverage declined by 5.1%.”

This should be easy to prevent, but we can’t get a consensus on why this happens.

  4. Jimmy says:

“NSA broke privacy rules thousands of times per year.” – Sounds like they are doing their job.

    • Sam says:

Insightful comment, Jimmy. What we know is we don’t know much and what we don’t know is that we can’t possible know it all.

  5. Howard says:

How common are malpractice claims? If doctors are hit with these frequently, it has to hurt their career in one way or another.
