Only 42% of doctor visits are to a personal physician.

My neighbor once complained that his wife’s personal physician does nothing more than refer her to specialists every time she sees the doctor. This is probably common among primary care doctors who treat Medicare-enrollees (due to the low reimbursements Medicare pays).

Many seniors probably don’t mind seeing more than one doctor for any given condition; don’t mind waiting (because they have plenty of free time) and enjoy the interaction between doctor and patient. If every time I went to see my doctor, he merely referred me to another doctor, I’d find a new doctor who would actually treat my problems. However, this theory explains why less than half of physician visits are to a personal physician.

Many Chinese have had a taste of free markets for long enough now to know that they want free markets to be in their future.

On the third article, that’s an unnerving use of Facebook, no doubt.
