Joblessness is more than the political statistic monitored by the BLS. It’s palpable, especially if you’re one of the “real” stats–i.e., you don’t havve a job or you know someone/s who doesn’t/don’t. Politicians up for election in November can run on a BLS number if they want to, but the “real” numbers vote.
