Call It the Porcine Conspiracy
A report released by the Council of Europe…accuses the World Health Organization and European governments of vastly exaggerating the public health risks of swine flu and making secretive decisions that benefited pharmaceutical companies.
I think everybody exaggerated the threat of swine flu. Had no idea that the drug companies were in on it though.
Perhaps they were after a bit of pork.

Bureaucratic risk aversion is partly an explanation for why the H1N1 flu risk was oversold. Had H1N1 been a pandemic and thousands of people died, the WHO would have been blamed for dropping the ball. Then again, would a group like the WHO have a reason to trivialize the potential risks of any pandemic? To do so would be to trivialize the need for the WHO.
Europe shouldn’t be able to hog all the credit. I’m sure ther was villainy on this side of the atlantic as well. Oink Oink.
We would have been in a world of hurt had the swine flu been more fatal. Despite all of the panic, it still managed to hop, skip, and jump around the world.
The WHO and the US government (and pretty much all of the other public health agencies/government in the world) took a serious hit to their credibility after causing such a fuss and 1) not being able to stop the spread and 2) dramatizing the risks.
While skeptics call it boaring, I think it’s a poor – sign for us all when these rasher allegation are made. Sow sad. Swill it never end???

John, I’m afraid your pearls of wisdom are being cast before swine.
Hate to be hamhanded about it but you should hoof it to your doctor for a flu shot…Otherwise you could get sick and have to be all penned up.
