  1. Stephen C. says:

I’m not surprised at all the tax increases. How else is Congress going to pay for all of the piggish earmarks?

  2. Neil H. says:

This entire Congress has been one continuous piggish feast at the expense of the American people.

  3. Tom H. says:

Did anybody notice that the White House is gearing up for a $50 million campaign to go into the fall elections trying to save Democratic seats under the banner of “defending the middle class”?

    That’s actually quite funny.

  4. Ken says:

All these taxes apparently aren’t putting a dent in the projected debt.

  5. Bart Ingles says:

The list of tax increases doesn’t appear to include the hidden tax implicit in premiums paid by very healthy, mid-to-high income individuals who purchase insurance through the exchanges.

Exchange-purchased policies will be considerably more expensive than underwritten policies available to healthy people. To the extent that this additional cost is not offset by the means-tested subsidy, this is a rather large excise tax (actually, the means-testing turns it into a large graduated income tax).

I haven’t studied the income subsidies enough to know at what income level this becomes a net tax, though. Maybe $60 or $70K?

  6. Virginia says:

I’m not surprised that there are hidden taxes inside the Obamacare bill. I bet we’ve haven’t seen even a fraction of it.
