30 Groups Agree With Baucus: Cook the Books

This is from American Health Line:

A coalition representing 30 health care organizations asks lawmakers in the House and Senate to suspend pay-as-you-go rules when drafting and passing health care overhaul legislation….. The coalition writes, "Requiring spending or revenue offsets for the entire cost of the health reform within a 10-year budget window … will significantly reduce the likelihood of enacting legislation to achieve essential reforms for long-term savings."

    Why the surprise? Nobody ever accused the left of favoring honest accounting.

    Neil, I don’t think they care about accounting. The more important point is, they don’t care where the money comes from.

    What they are clearly saying is: We know the American people will never buy into our proposal if they know what it costs, so we have to disguise the cost (i.e. lie about it).

    People on the left never care where the money comes from. Strike up a conversation with them: They know nothing about taxes, who pays them or what bad things happen when you raise them.

    They are totally focused on benefits and completely oblivious about costs.
